Congratulations Catholic Bee Winners!

Congratulations to all of our school and parish 4th and 5th graders who participated in the Knights of Columbus first annual Catholic Religion Bee here at St. John’s on Wednesday, March 28th. Placing third was Ryan C., a 5th grader at Leonardtown Elementary. Placing 2nd was Sam M., a 5th grader at FAW. And winning first place was Augustine O., a 5th grade home-schooled student. All three students will move on to the District Competition. The top six finishers at Districts will then move on to the State Competition on April 21st. Good luck guys! A special thanks goes out to KOC, Chris Woehrer for hosting the Bee and for all of his work making it happen.

Natural Family Planning Class Begins this Weekend

Have you ever thought about what unnatural birth control methods really do to your body? To your marriage? Why is the Church so upset about the HHS mandate? Come learn the truth about family planning! The Couple to Couple League has the answers and more! Attend a short course and learn a natural method of family planning that is safe, effective, and morally acceptable. Great for achieving, as well as postponing pregnancy. Southern Maryland Youth Day at St. John's!

St. John's will be hosting this year's Southern Maryland Youth Day on Saturday, March 17th. This year SMYD is all about Middle Schoolers. Please encourage your 6th, 7th and 8th graders to attend this amazing day. We're expecting over 200 youth from all over St. Mary's County and we'd love to strongly represent St. John's parish.

Mother Revelacion and Fr. Swink are the keynote speakers during a day filled with adoration, Confessions, games and activities, Mass at 5pm and a dance from 6-8:30. The seminarians will be joining us; Checkers is providing lunch and Mrs. Pollock will be making her famous fried chicken for dinner. Sign your Middle School student up at www.stmaryscatholicyouth.com . The registration fee is $25. Your consent form and payment can be dropped off at the church office during regular business hours (Tues. - Fri., 8am - 4pm), or the school office during regular school hours (Mon. - Fri., 8am - 3pm).
